One of the famous architects that I have always
admired is Le Corbusier.
Le Corbusier grew up in La Chaux-de-Fonds, a small town in the north of Switzerland. In 1907, aged 19, he moved to the French city of Paris. He travelled across Europe, and learned a lot of new ideas. He learned to speak German and worked with famous architects, such as Peter Behrens.
When one looks at his life work one can only be astonished at its abundance. Le Corbusier built many groundbreaking buildings around the world and drew up numerous important urban development plans. He created impressive works of art – with paintings, sculptures, drawings and collages, enamels, tapestries as well as engravings. And he developed timeless furniture icons; incredibly ahead his of time. Based on his incomparable experiences, Le Corbusier developed – as a masterpiece – an eternally valid theory of color: the Architectural Polychromy. Nowadays the Foundation Le Corbusier in Paris manages the life's work of Le Corbusier.
